Controller

Fredericton, NB, Canada ▪ Accounting and Finance ▪ Full-time

We are looking for a self-directed and experienced Controller to deliver financial and accounting activities of the company. The successful candidate will play a role in budget management, financial analysis, payroll, forecasting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have experience and interest in joining a growing entrepreneurial team.

This role will evolve with time. We need someone with the ability to learn, adapt, and be ready to help navigate new opportunities with the management team.

Responsibilities

Management & Accounting

  • Manage and advance financial controls in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures

  • Monitor the financial performance of the company

  • Oversee and manage costs in collaboration with the Senior Management team

  • Manage accounts payables and receivables

  • Manage invoicing as well as collection

  • Manage the preparation of payroll

  • In collaboration with the Senior Management team, prepare budgets

  • Prepare and review monthly reports and account reconciliations

  • Prepare and maintain funding applications and reports

Reporting and Compliance

  • Issue timely and complete financial statements

  • Communicate financial metrics to senior management

  • Coordinate and prepare for annual financial reviews with the accounting firm

  • Provide financial analysis when needed, in particular for investments, pricing decisions, etc

  • Recommend benchmarks to measure financial performance of the company

  • Comply with legislation for reporting requirements and tax filings

The position reports to the Vice President of Operations

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or business administration is required. CPA designation is preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in financial management and/or accounting roles

  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and the ability to meet strict timelines

  • Deep experience and knowledge of Simply as well as advanced Excel skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Impeccable analytical and organizational skills

  • Self-motivated and self-directed

  • Ability to work closely with the senior management team
